Taking Chances

Hi Everyone!

As I am preparing to leave for Oxford I thought I might create a site that I can post my everyday shenanigans, not only to document my time here but to allow everyone I love at home a glimpse at what I am doing. It’s also a way for my parents to make sure I’m still alive….(Hi Mom and Dad!)

For those of you who don’t know, I am traveling to Oxford, England to study history at the CMRS (Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies) program. I will be there for the entire Fall semester starting in September and ending in December. Since I will be abroad I will not have any cell reception and will be communicating through the Internet.

My hopes for this blog is to post my daily activities. Due to my unknown schedule and workload I cannot guarentee a posting every day or even every week. What I do promise for this site is to keep everyone at home updated on my life. I will give fair warning that I may history-nerd out periodically. After all, I am studying at the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies!! This trip is a dream come true for me and every history major I know.

Life is a series of choices that we are supposed to make and opportunities that we must choose to take or watch them go by. And if you don’t take any chances is life, what’s the point? I took this chance to study abroad and while I’m nervous about it, I know that I am taking a chance, and one that will change my life forever. I worked hard to overcome the obstacles in my way to make this happen and I know it was worth it. This just goes to show that if you truly work hard for something you want, you can succeed.

So please be patient with me on this blog as I take this chance of a lifetime. I will post the link to my facebook page for any of my family and friends to follow me. Now I’m not leaving yet, but the date is drawing nearer so I thought I would get the ball rolling!

Cheerio!
